SATURDAY / MAY 11 / LEAVE BEND / ON THE ROAD HOME

MAY 11 2024
SATURDAY

We were up at 5AM again. I went potty and got dressed. We got the dogs out of the camper and took them for a walk around the Community Center across the the house.

I had to go potty really badly, so I walked back to the house and went inside to potty. Echo and Lola barked at me as I walked inside at 6:30AM.

Then I went back outside to walk the dogs some more while Hubby got dressed.

We heated up eggs for Tater and canned dog food for Riley.

We sat in the back yard on the patio until the kids came down. KRL was having trouble waking up and was still in her pjammies.

Got going by 9AM.  I rode with KRL with Echo & Lola in her Jeep. Hubby rode in Spencer's truck with Riley & Tater.

Drove to a Burrito place near a Brew Pub.

Hubby went inside to get a latte, Spencer joined him. The latte was THE WORST THING I HAVE EVER TASTED. It was disgusting.

We sat outside watching people and talking on the bench/bar stools.

We left there and drove to the Good Dog walking park. Huge off leash park. I could not walk very far. Riley ran away after a dog scared her. I finally got her to come back to me after running and yelling at her.

Tater was difficult because we had to hold him on a leash. Echo and Lola ran around everywhere.

Loaded up and drove back to the house.

Got everything packed back into the truck/camper and I made more hot tea.

At NOON we said Goodbye to the kids & dogs. Then we left. Drove to get fuel. Missed the first turn and had to drive around the block.

Left Bend and drove back to Burns. Stopped to get fuel again in Burns. We walked the dogs in Hines City park. There was a big weird building across from the park. Looking it up days later, we find out that it was the Grey Ghost, a building started in 1929, but abandoned after the Stock Market Crash. Gave the dogs water and some treats.

Turned south at Burns and drove thru Swamp Land again with bugs. Drove thru some pretty mountains.

22 MILES OF REALLY SHAKY BAD ROAD. Hubby said that no other weather had ever bothered him, snow, rain, sleet, hail, ice. But that road stressed him out bad.

We finally got to Winnemucca at 6PM. Took the truck & camper to a car wash. I walked the dogs on a grassy area in front of a retail store across the street.

Found a nice BBQ place where Hubby went inside to get food. But they did not give him beans he ordered, instead he got a double order of fries. We found the sandwiches WAY TOO SALTY! No Beans!

We drove across the street to an RV park that we had paid for while on the road, but it was a fucking dump. In front of a run-down casino. Nothing but concrete, no showers, no bathrooms. No grass to walk on like their advertisement had pictured.

So I found another RV Camp on the edge of town and we drove there.

Got a spot at the new place. Very nice, very big. Grassy areas. Drove to our spot and Hubby hooked up the electric. We took the dogs for a walk to the grassy area. BUT AS WE GOT BACK, THERE WAS A COUPLE PARKED NEXT TO US WITH A DOG THAT TRIED TO ATTACK TATER. BARKING. THEN THE IDIOT PEOPLE WERE SMOKING! WTF????

We went back to the check-in and Hubby got another spot. A back-in spot. We changed spaces and got hooked up again. Ate our food inside instead. Got ready for bed.

Fed the dogs some kibble. Gave them lots of water.

Went to bed at 9PM. Left the side windows and the overhead vent open again. Nice fresh breeze.
