TRIP TO SALT LAKE FOR A CAMPER!

SATURDAY
9-14-2019

Got up at 6AM.

Hubby made eggs for dogs while I made lattes.

Packed bags, left food & water for cats. Hubby cleaned out the truck and washed the windows.

We got on the road at 8AM. Had to come back as we got to the bottom of Flat Top Mesa Drive because I forgot a pillow to hold in the truck.

Had to drive down to the shop to take the stuff out of the back of the Dually. Said "Hi" briefly to Dean & Eric

Then we had to stop at the water park and let the dogs go potty.

Stopped at Mesquite Starbucks 9:02AM to get egg bites for me because I did not have a chance to make breakfast.

Back on the road and then on to the Interstate. The drive thru the Gorge was fine. No traffic back ups.

 Our Trip to SLC

We stopped for gas in Cedar City; I walked the dogs. At the Flying J there, they have a new fenced dog area so we put them into it so they could run around & play. Gave them lots of water.

I went potty, then Hubby went potty.

We got back on the road again. Dogs settled down for a nap in the back.

Stopped at Carl's Jr in Fillmore, UT at 1:37PM to get chicken sandwich for me and cheeseburgers for dogs, a Beyond Famous cheeseburger for Hubby.

Back on the road again after walking the dogs for potty. We also gave them water.

As we came into SLC metro area, we called the first camper listed at the south end of town, but there was no answer. So we continued on to the next one which was a Fleetwood Caribou in Magna, UT.

The seller was named Bronco. They had a little tiny home that was covered in plants/trees. Had to pull into it from across the street at a church because the driveway was difficult to get the Dually into it.

The family put away all their dogs They had about 6 dogs including a Great Dane.

The camper itself was nice inside, but show signs of excessive use. Outside the camper, the boards were soaked on the bottom. We would have to replace almost all the wood holding the camper together.

So we thanked them and continued on to the next camper in Willard, UT. Rachel was selling this for her father who has Dementia.

Called La Quinta in Layton, UT to secure a hotel room for the night. Hubby got talked into purchasing a get-away at $159 for 3 nights, 4 days in Las Vegas to listen to a time-share talk. After being transferred for a "questionnaire".

We got stuck in a traffic jam for over 1 hour as we were driving to Willard, UT. We called Rachel to let her know we could not make it. Hubby exited the interstate to get off and turn around when we saw that the wreck was RIGHT NEXT TO THE EXIT! So we got back on the interstate and continued on to Willard. We called Rachel again and told her we were minutes away.

Rachel was a short girl with brown hair. Very nice. However, the camper had never been put inside out of the weather and the floor of the camper was severely warped because it was collapsing around the cradle that was under it.

The inside of the camper was in extremely ROUGH shape. It also stank.

I walked the dogs out back. I got a sticker stuck in my shoe.

Then we decided to leave. Hubby saw a Ford Pickup out front that they might also sell and Rachel said she would talk with her mother about it.

We left and decided to find a park for the dogs to pee & drink water.

Hubby missed a sign for a State Park and had to turn around at a storage building, but turned around on a one-way street. The SHERIFF was sitting right at the corner and pulled him over.

The Sheriff was really nice and said "Not from around here, huh?" So he ran Hubby's license and then just gave him a warning.

We decided to just go to the hotel.

Got to the La Quinta in Layton about 20 minutes later. Walked the dogs. Hubby checked into the hotel.
La Quinta in Layton

No place to park. Extremely horrible way to get into the hotel.

There was a dog show in town. Hubby came out of the check-in Lobby with a man that had two English Mastiffs. I had to get out and pet them.

The room was pretty much horrible. Black hairs everywhere. Even before we took the dogs inside. We set up water & food for the dogs. The toilet was 4 inches from the floor. Felt like I was falling to sit down on it.

Stains on the sheets & comforter, stains in the tub, mold in the tub. We did NOT take showers. Yuck.

Called Door Dash with discount from Hotel and ordered Red Lobster. It came and was fast & hot.

Hubby got Cajun Chicken with Shrimp & Sausage
I got Seafarer's Feast with Lobster Mashed Potatoes

We walked the dogs again after dinner.

Then we watched TV until 10PM when I had Hubby turn off the TV and we fell asleep. I slept with the dogs on one bed while he slept by himself on the other bed.
