Driving Miss Daisy

Tuesday
I absolutely DETEST hubby staying home from work. He is a complete & utter slob. He does not pick up after himself. Creates more work for me by making messes. And now that he is injured and cannot lift himself off the couch in addition to be drugged up the gills, I have the additional bonus of being a 24-hour nurse (sans pay!). This does not work out for me. I am tired beyond words.

In addition, I get to drive him everywhere. With Moyie Springs coming up...everything and I do mean EVERYTHING at the RMOR shop has to be done at the last possible minute. These guys are so stupid and don't think ahead 2 weeks. No. They have to get all their parts NOW. Doesn't matter if we have to make 3,4, or even 5 trips to Spoky-Jo in one day. That is a lot of driving. Senseless, expensive, tiring driving.

Miss Daisy decided that we had to return to Spoky-Jo to have the old man machine something else because it was wrong the last time. The last time was when he picked up the part 5 months ago. So for FIVE months, they had a part that was machined wrong. Finally. They put it in. It doesn't fit. So off we go to Spoky-Jo on Tuesday even though we drove there on Sunday and it could have been taken over then. Urgh.

While we were in Spoky-Jo, we also picked up a couple more bags of dog food at Costco. We are being eaten out of house & home with 7 dogs. I am posting Murphy's photo on-line today and hopefully he will be adopted out soon. Have to write a "glowing" biography for the dog. The dog that is scared of cameras, vehicles, walking, & people. Oh gosh.

Bud & Lil Bit came with us for a ride. Bud stuck his head out of the truck. His ears were flying.

Cinco-de-Mayo
Hubby decided I had to drive him up to Sandpoint to make a deposit in the bank, then get gasoline. I am already tired. It is only 1:30 in the afternoon.

All I want for Mother's Day is to rest at home. Maybe go out and have a sit by the fire-pit with a roaring fire. Maybe get my new washer & dryer installed. Maybe have somebody pick up pinecones & mow the circle drive. That would make me happy. I am too tired for anything else. Something laid back & simple.

How did I do on the bio?
Murphy is a very gentle, sweet, and loving dog. He has been starved of affection so he will be stuck to your leg like glue. Murphy tops out at 139 pounds right now but could use a couple more pounds to round him out. We are starting him out on basic obedience training and he responds quite well. Murphy adores playing with other dogs. He came from a family with children so is accustomed to little ones. This dog adores naps, enjoys outdoors, and is ecstatic when lying on his new doggie bed. Murphy is house trained and paces around the door when he needs to go out! At 2 1/2 years he is now up-to-date on his vaccinations, heartworm free, & neutered. This lovely dog would LOVE to go home with you.

The More I Foster, The More I Hate People

Well, HATE is a strong word. I would just like to slap them. But you can't slap people into smart.

We traveled to Spoky-Jo early. Got there an hour before we were to pick up the new foster. So I got my nails done while Bud & hubster waited. The rest of the dogs stayed at home because I didn't want them to have their first meeting in the truck.

When I spoke with the owner on the phone the other day, she did not indicate that this dog had ANY problems loading in a vehicle. DUMB. (first dumb thing-there are more)

Secondly, I had to wait FOREVER at the front door after knocking. This woman KNEW that I would be there at 11:00-so why not be prepared? Anyway, I was led into the disgusting interior of the home; in the middle of packing, dirt everywhere, & total hoarders with chaos! They resisted letting me look into the backyard to see where they kept the Saint (and another dog-a black German Shepherd...probably never picked up poo a day in their lives I can only surmise). While waiting for the woman to fill out paperwork, a goth looking 15 year old comes out of the room in the house, along with the husband who finally pokes his head out. Then there are two little girls about 4 & 6 years old that are wandering around totally oblivious about the dogs!

After filling out the paperwork and advising me that besides the neutering the dog has NEVER seen a vet. She wasn't sure about shots (maybe she gave them to him...maybe not) She has no definite idea how old the dog is even though she told me she "rescued" him from a kennel when he was 6 weeks old...

Then after looking at the dog...HE'S GOT A HUGE BUNCH OF HAIR GROWING OUT THE BOTTOM OF HIS LEFT EYE! Oh. My. God. It is so big it looks like a piece of stick stuck into his eye! I was flabbergasted! Speechless! Couldn't they hold him & cut the damn thing down? He also needed a bath.

She proceeds to light a cigarette & bring out a latte in her bare feet when attempting to load him in our truck. And she starts crying. Then tells us that the dog doesn't load very good. No wonder. They never take him anyplace. Just brought him home & dumped him in the back yard.

He has not been trained in basic obedience AT ALL. No sit. No down. No housetraining. OMG! This is a 150-pound dog that has no manners. I shudder.

So we waste 30 minutes trying to get him loaded. Her husband finally picked up the dog & put him in the back of the truck. While we were attempting to put the dog in our truck, the two younger kids wander out of the house - and the mother totally ignores them! They could have walked into the street without her noticing. I feel like slapping somebody! We drive away fast...

Stopped in Rathdrum to get milk & some basic groceries. My phone is ringing. Already without asking permission, the woman has given my phone number out to other potential adopters. I advise they have to go through http://www.SaintRescue.org/ to fill out an application since the owner has surrendered the dog to our organization. This woman on the phone wanted to come get him immediately! I told her that he needed to be assessed & taken to vet b4 the Rescue would adopt him out. If she wanted a dog, she would need to have a home visit, references & pay the adoption fee.

At home we immediately cut the hair off his eyelid. We realize that he has a horrendous eye infection in both eyes! Yellow pus is just leaking out! What pain he must be suffering. The poor dog has extremely brittle toenails. Probably from inadequate protein in his diet. The poo I collect for the vet visit is pudding.

He does come to his name - Murphy. He gets introduced gradually to the other dogs. Harriet goes ballistic. She gets kenneled until she can calm down.

Murphy is a gentle, happy dog. Hopefully after a good visit to the Vet, maybe some eye surgery, and a bath he can be adopted out to a great home.

Hailing Hailing

Brr cold. Hail today. Got a latte for hubby today. Bit, Bud & Isabelle rode with me to the latte stand. Hubster sat on a chair working down at the shop because he can't stand. He still needed to get some things done at RMOR.

The dogs were extremely bored as it rained all day. They didn't want to go outside to play at all. I could barely convince them to go out for potty.

Walked Bud & Zeus down to the shop between raindrops.

Dogs played outside during a brief period of sunshine. Bit chews Bud's leg while Bud chews on Harry's ear. Odd weather we have been having. Hope it clears up soon. I know all of us are itching to get out and play more.

Aches & Pains

pig-in-a-blanket tonight

Bud 4-wheelin' this past weekend

Hubby rested this morning. I made him a great breakfast of eggs, bacon & toast so that he could take his pain meds.

I had to drive him into town to deliver a truck to C&N Diesel. Bud & Bit came with us. On the way back we got cheeseburgers for the pound puppies. Also stopped in CDA to pick up some metal they needed for the RMOR shop. Lots of insane traffic at 430PM; several cars tried to hit us!

Once home, I was trolling Craigslist and found a potential Saint rescue. Made arrangements with Mandy to pick up her dog on Sunday. She said he weighs 200 pounds. We will see...

Worst Birthday Ever

Hubby's birthday was today. He had planned on having a low-key, casual day. His vacation from work started on Wednesday, so he was sure to have the day off.

The kids came over on Wednesday afternoon to dump Bravo so they could go spend time with the in-laws. However, Bravo decided he did not want to have fun at Granny's house. He was a bad little B! Growled at the other dogs, growled at granny, chewed the rugs outside.

When the kids returned, we talked a while before going to bed. Watched a South Park episode that had been pre-recorded. Hilarious.

Planning on sleeping in early did not happen. The dogs were up by 5AM with me to go out to potty. It was raining and they balked. Went back to bed. Gave hubby his cupcake & candle & birthday song. KRL-N came up to let Bravo out with all the other dogs & Zeus piddled around walking the fence line as usual. KRL-N drooled against the door, falling asleep again. She was finally able to return to bed...with Lil Bit following her down to the basement & sleeping between her legs...

Then the dogs woke up an hour later with hubby and wanted to go out to potty again. Hubby's turn!

Hubby returned to bed. To sleep in late. NOT. Some kid knocked on the door. At 8AM. Dogs barking. Total chaos. Seems there had been an accident last night. One of the kids that frequents RMOR had rolled their truck while 4-wheeling & was in serious condition. The kid knocking on the door was his best friend since high school & wanted to fetch his truck that RMOR had been working on in the shop. So hubby got dressed & was gone out the door.

By 10AM, we got organized after a nice birthday breakfast of sausages & waffles. Even Matt ate! So we got lattes later & headed to Round Lake to walk the dogs in the rain. Was nice. Half way through, hubby's knee went out. It was awful. He was in lots of pain. Got home & called doctor. Orthopedic surgeon scheduled appt June 3! OMG! That far out? So we took him to general MD to get pain pills. Also a note from doctor saying he will not be able to walk, kneel, or exert pressure on leg until a 1 week follow-up.

Hubby in pain & on painkillers. Stopped to get drugs in Rathdrum, got gasoline at Costco, cheeseburgers for dogs at Wendys, dog food at Aslin Finch, leg brace in Hayden at other MDs.

For the rest of the evening, hubster rested on couch with leg elevated & brace on & ice on top of that!

No Blog Blogger

I don't know why I have not updated my blog in so long. Derelict in my duties, I suppose.

Hubby was training in Everett from April 19 through April 21. When he returned, we took the dogs up to Round Lake for an early morning walk while it was slightly raining. The afternoon turned out better.

Hectic times getting ready for the Rocky Mountain Toys Charity 4X4 Event on April 24, 2010. Which was loads of fun. The kids let us ride in their MegaMatt Dodge Mega Cab. It was exciting to be 4-wheeling again. Our son won the $200 gift certificate for a complete detail at the local car dealership. He really needed it as he cut it close going through the woods dragging through the trees.

The kids stayed over Friday & Saturday night. Walked the dogs with us in the park Sunday morning April 25. We picked up cattle panels for them & hauled them to their place. Hubby helped the son put them up while us girls waited in the house.

I have been updating hubby's new blog site with pictures & other things. Have been trying to work on him for years to get out there & promote Rocky Mountain Off Road. Finally, the kids talked him into it. We will be doing t-shirts, sweatshirts, jackets, stickers, banners, pens, & new business cards to reflect the new logo.

Hubby accidentally washed his cell phone in the laundry the other day. He got a loaner from Kevin R, but it did not work. He finally got his own to dry out and we had to authorize it again via computer. What a mess.

It was slightly warm on Monday April 26, but Tuesday has been raining all day. Dogs don't want to do anything, they have been sleeping around the house all day.

Years From Now

Years from now, I want you years from now
And I hold you years from now as I love you tonight
You are my one true friend, always my one true friend
And I love you till I'd say as I love you tonight

I know this world that we live in can be hard
Now and then and it will be again
Many times we've been down
Still love has kept us togetherl the flame never dies
When I look in your eyes the future I see

Wanting you years from now
And holding you years from now
And loving you years from now
As I love you tonight

I know this world that we live in can be hard
Now and then and it will be again
Many times we've been down
Still love has kept us together the flame never dies
When I look in your eyes the future I see

Wanting you years from now
And holding you years from now
And loving you years from now
As I love you tonight

No Rest For The Weary

I am just exhausted. T.I.R.E.D.

9 April Friday
Hubby came home after work & then worked in the shop until 9:00. At which time he decided that we needed to deliver Kegley's truck to them. After getting fuel in Spirit Lake, we raced to Post Falls to get a Starbucks. They were closed. Damn. So instead, we got lattes & 2 dozen donuts at Krispy Kreme. Hubster just cannot resist those donuts. I sipped on my latte joyfully while we drove to Airway Heights dragging a trailer behind us in the dark!

10 April Saturday
Kept working on the new RMOR blog, finishing up taxes, and looking after all the dogs. Waylon the Schipperke is still with us and his mommies should be picking him up today. I also cleaned house. Which is what made me tired. After all that work, I hurt EVERYWHERE!

Then later in the afternoon, China called to ask if they could stay one more day and pick Waylon up on Sunday afternoon. I told them it was OK. Waylon & Bit have been playing a lot. I think Bit is also tired from keeping up with Waylon. I had to put Waylon in his kennel so that Bit could nap without disturbance!

Today was incredibly beautiful with the sunshine and warmer weather. Dogs were outside on the deck taking naps.

11 April Sunday
I slept until 10:30AM. Was so so so tired. Everything is still hurting. We finally walked the puppies in the park after getting lattes. We went to a new area which had way too many people there playing Frisbee golf. Distracted the dogs somewhat. Then mid way through our walk, it started to rain. We returned with dogs that were not happy with such a short stroll!

China & Donna picked Waylon up around 1:30; then hubster & I went to Sandpoint to drop off dog food/coupons at the Panhandle Animal Shelter in Ponderay. They said they were supplied with all the dog food they needed in the animal shelter by Science Diet. Way to go Science Diet! But that they were a food bank for needy dogs. They would re-bag the dog food to give to needy dogs! Yippee.

Then shopped at Wally World & got lattes from Starbucks afterwards. Went home. Unpacked groceries, played with puppies for a while, & vegged out for the rest of the night.

Got an email from Cheryl, the WA St. Bernard rep - she had another approved home that wanted to see Zeus. Excitedly emailed the contact but found out rather quickly that she did not want to adapt her house to a dog that does not like to walk on hardwood floors. Yet again another potential adopter falls through. Poor Zeus. There is somebody perfect out there for you!

Ether Sunday

3 April Saturday
Saturday the kids came over & brought Easter Lillies.

4April Sunday
Sunday we walked the dogs down at the park. Then drove over to Spoky-Jo to get my toes & nails done. Even hubster got a pedicure. Ate at the authentic mexican deli right next to the nail place. Very good food.

7 April Wednesday
Donna brought Waylon the mini schipperke over so that I could babysit until Saturday afternoon. Wednesday night we picked up a Jeep Cherokee in Spoky-Jo. Took the new white Ford dually & trailer, Bud & Isabelle went with us.. Met the kids in Airway Heights to eat at La Presa. Pretty good food.

Hail Hail Hail

Thursday
April Fool's Day
The last 3 days, it has been hailing at least once a day. Weather here has been turning colder. Right now it is 27 degrees F outside. Brrrrrr.

Nature is giving us the April Fool's Day joke. 6 weeks of winter for spring; as we have had spring for the last few months of winter!

I took Zeus & Bud for a walk down to get mail. However, Zeus had other ideas. While they were waiting at a nearby tree, he chewed through his leash. I got to him just barely in time to prevent him running away. We will have to work on this. They are learning the NILF method better. Sit for everything.

#3 and his friend cut down a couple trees out in the woods that had some sort of pest rot. Hopefully we got to the bad trees before it spread. Maybe have to take a picture so that we can take it down to the Extension Office to advise what is the problem. Don't want to lose any more trees.

Played with the puppies outside for over an hour because 'Lil Bit refused to let me sit in the office & do taxes. He was doing the "dancing bear" routine & whining. So I ran outside after him, and around everywhere. He loved it. Then played tug-of-war in the warm sun with the Saints. Bud & Harriet played keep-away with a yellow tennis ball. Threw it quite a few times until my arm grew sore!

Tired the puppies out so much that they came in & slept for 2.5 hours afterwards!

5AM Poop Patrol

TUESDAY
Hubby made a roast the other day in the slow cooker. I had dug it out from behind a lot of things in the freezer. It had been hiding there for over 6 months. So we thought it was time to use it.

Made it with onions, beef bouillon, potatoes. Hubster took it to lunch with him as a hot beef sandwich with potatoes & corn.

I fed what was left of the beef juice to the dogs with their Canidae dog food. In the middle of last night, they must have gotten up & had exposive diarrhea. We cleaned up over 6 piles on the rugs downstairs. It must have been Angus or Bud because they are the only ones that don't bark or scratch to go out. They are the silent waiters by the door. "See me, Mom. I am silently standing (or sitting) by the door - waiting to go out. You are supposed to see me!" Well, it's pretty difficult to see that they want to go out when I am sleeping upstairs in bed!

Hub woke up to the overwhelming rotten smell of poop. He woke me up with all the lights he turned on to see all the poo. I helped him cleaned up everything. Then we fell back into bed.

Yesterday & today has been cold & rainy with dark black clouds overhead. Also has hailed both days for a short period of time. Plants not doing too well. Will have to wait til weather gets a bit better before putting anything out on the deck.

#3 & friend pulled down the remaining deck posts so that they can go back to the Post & Pole guy to get fixed.

Hubby has Fri-Sat&Sun off. Need to get my nails done Friday.

WEDNESDAY

Texted hubby as he asked names of songs & bands. I won a free lottery ticket for answering correctly!

Texted kid.

New Monitor Kinda Creepy

Friday
Isabelle came back smelling like cotton candy. Yummy. She is SO clean she squeaks. Her toenails are much shorter. Thank goodness. She has also been sleeping on our bed again. Back to normal.

Saturday
I cleaned out the basement of mouse poos & mess. No trace of mousies. All dead. Also vacuumed, started a throw-away pile, put away all the Christmas stuff, got out the Easter & Summer outdoor decor,

Sunday
Hubby picked up a new computer monitor for me at Best Buy. Kinda cheap stand, but it sorta tilts. The new monitor is LG 20" wide LCD. Actually TOO wide. Computer pages on it look kinda creepy. Might have to rethink this. Am I happy with it? Have to return the other monitor to Costco.

Didn't get a chance to post Lil Bit's portrait as it was on the desktop, not the lappy. He looks really good.

Hubby had to be on-call & OT Sunday today. Will get 3 days off next weekend. Fri-Sat-Sun. Will have to walk the dogs every day as long as it doesn't rain. We walked the dogs Saturday morning which was fun & different.

Started to refile paperwork into the new file cabinet downstairs but today was
very cold & the basement made my fingers freeze. So I cleaned the fish tank, gave Harriet a bath in the tub, cleaned all the dogs' ears out.

When hubby finally got home he made a potroast which should be done cooking in the slow roaster by tomorrow.

Didn't get a chance to post Lil Bit's portrait as it was on the desktop, not the lappy. He looks really good.

More Chaos

THURSDAY
Chaos continues as Hubby brought home a 19" HDTV from Costco instead of a computer MONITOR. Then the laptop decided to not work due to power cord failure. This is not the first time for this junky computer that skips all over when I type. We have replaced the cord 3 times now.

Frustrated, I fought with the laptop for 2 hours last night to hook up the remote printer again.

FRIDAY
Rainy & cold. It is 12:30PM and the propane truck has still not arrived.

We take Isabelle in at 4PM to get groomed at Petco. Think I will ask them if they have coconut flavor shampoo.

Then get to go to Costco again to trade the TV and purchase a computer monitor instead.

Laptop down. Mass chaos.

Bud

Lindsay got finished with Bud's Pet Portrait.

Zeus' adoption to Montana fell through; the woman that wanted to take him is now "too busy with life" at this time to get him.

Sunday Walk

FRIDAY
Hubby took me, Isabelle, Bit, Zeus & Bud up with him at 5PM to Priest River to pick up parts. We stopped at the Burger Haven to get a "bag of burgers & fries". The krinkle cut fries that KRL-N loves so much. Also got fry sauce. Dogs just loved them.

SATURDAY
Kootenai Electric failed to provide us with service for over two hours on Saturday morning from 10AM-12PM. The guys couldn't do anything at the shop and I was totally bored. Could not vacuum, internet, or watch TV. The outage went as far as Bayview to Twin Lakes to Rimrock to Athol to Silverwood. When the power came back on, I had lost my desktop computer monitor. Will now have to purchase another one :( Damn KEC. I hate them. Can't keep the electricity on even though it is a bright sunny day.

Kegley & Rachel came over to visit to see how his truck was coming along. Walked up to the house with M&K to visit me.

SUNDAY
Went down to Farragut Park with all the puppies. Walked through the woods on the South side of the park. Raining lightly.

Played with puppies today.

Got home and made hot dogs for lunch. Then planted bulbs in the barrels; put up Spring things outside; hubby put up tie-racks in closet to hang up my necklaces.

Ran out of propane today. Forgot to check the gauge. LOL. Had to hook up electric heaters.

Spit-Toon

Obviously, when a little dog lives with BIG dogs - he has to get used to being a Spit Receptacle.

Lil Bit poses with slobber upon his head.

Last night hubby stole the blankets from my side of the bed. So I got up and went into the other room to sleep by myself. I think he might have had a cold chill as he had me cover him with 3 blankets & turn on the heating pad. He was still cold after all that!

Isabelle decided that from Midnight to 1AM was a prime time to go downstairs to potty THREE TIMES! I had a frank discussion with her to indicate that this would not be acceptable in future!

Oh, My Aching Teeth

3 March Wednesday
Home Depot actually delivered our new washer & dryer as promised on this date. Without phone calls or prompting! I was shocked. Will have to write positive comments to them on their website. The w/d are in the garage until we get the shelves built to install them.

8 March Monday
So after lying around in a Vicodin induced coma for the last two weeks, I finally had my teeth removed at 10:30AM. I was put under with Nitrous Oxide and a local anesthesia block. Hubby came into the recovery room not 20 minutes later & bundled me home.

After stopping to get more painkillers, antibiotics & groceries in Rathdrum, we returned home so that I could sleep.

I don't remember much more of that day.

Hubby returned to work for a few more days that week after taking Monday off to take care of me. However, by Wednesday 10 March, I begged him to stay home with me as I was physically nauseated. He called the doctor to get some prescriptions for that and stayed home with me for the balance of the week.

11 March Thursday
I staggered downstairs to feed the fish only to discover a mouse in the basement feeding on my bird food. Screaming, I ran back upstairs. Hubby got mouse traps & poison.

13 March Saturday
Kids came over on Saturday to visit. Matt brought me flowers. They are very pretty. Kids also brought pizza from Dominos. Even tho they said they changed their pizza recipe, they are not very good. Dry pizzas. No sauce.

Lady that wanted Zeus texted me to say that she had a concussion in a bike race & could not come get him on Saturday.

14 March Sunday
DAYLIGHT SAVINGS - SPRING AHEAD. Took dogs for long walk in the park. This is my first adventure outside since my incapacitation with my teeth. I am very tired. No energy. Will have to rest the balance of the day. I feel horrible.

Rested for quite a while. Then picked up all the dog poo within the fence & Isabelle's out in the yard. By the time I was finished, hubby wanted to go get pizza in town at Garlic Jim's. So we packed up and took Isabelle & Lil Bit into town with us. We stopped at Costco for gas - I still did not have enough energy to go in shopping. We went for Garlic Chicken pizza which which was DELICIOUS. And then over to the carwash to clean the truck.

Home again & rested more. Hubbby fell asleep early due to DST.
