THURSDAY
7-2-2020
Up at 7:20AM. We thought we were riding the UTVs to Marysvale to eat at the restaurant there, but everybody had decided last night to have a light breakfast on their own and stop in Beaver for lunch.
Irl and Kathy loaded up and left right away.
U-Haul had called him to find out when he was bringing back the trailer so he felt obliged to get it back ASAP. Disappointing.
Hubby and I drove back tot he Ghost Town just behind the Rest Area and looked for rocks, but could not find any good ones.
On the way out, we stopped and fed the 3 Donkeys our Trail Bars; Oatmeal & Honey. They were happy donkeys.
I made lattes for us and warmed up egg bites.
Dave & Scott went off looking for rocks. Hubby and I loaded everything up. Cleaned out poop drain; rolled up the water hose.
We sat at the picnic table for quite a while, talking with Carmen. I had diarrhea quite a lot from all the food.
Hubby hooked the trailer up to the truck. Scott & Dave came back and loaded the UTVs. Hubby tied his own UTV down on the trailer.
Then we left at 10AM.
Leaving Big Rock Candy Mountain RV Resort
Drove to Beaver and ate at the Crazy Cow Cafe. Which was pretty much awful.
Malibu Chicken which I ordered with Raspberry Tea that I had to remind them twice to bring. 3 different waitresses... "Sorry the cheese fell off the sandwich!" Whut Tha Fuck?
Disgusting Malibu Chicken However, The Sweet Potato Fries Had Been Frozen Tasted Okay
We tried calling to get free apple pie and ice cream from the Pioneer Center, but were told that we were on a "back-up list" there was no more apple pie. Stupid HOA. Carmen talked to them also and got on a "back-up list". Everything that stupid center does with OUR MONEY is stupid.
We got fuel at the Flying J.
Everybody left at their own rate of speed. We texted Carmen and told her to not wait for us in St George as we had to pick up dogs.
Dogs At Daycare
Wilson At Daycare
Stopped to pick up dogs at 2PM. They were pretty much subdued. Gave them a treat of my awful Malibu Chicken from lunch. Then the settled down in the truck. Tater slept the whole way home. Wilson sat beside us, but was tired.
Tater Just Woke Up - He Looks Drunk! Wilson, and Hubby
We got thru the Canyon with no problems. All the construction work is done and both lanes are open now!
LOTS OF TRAFFIC FOR 4TH OF JULY WEEKEND.
We did not get off at Littlefield as Kathy had texted it was backed up, but as we crested the hill, Hubby pulled a U-turn on the Interstate and drove back to Littlefield, got on the old Highway 91. Scott & Ray were right in front of us.
We went around Old Mill Road on the way home to get away from traffic exiting the Interstate.
At home, we got there just at the same time that Raylene was dropping Scott off in front of our house. Hubby unloaded the UTVs, unloaded his own UTV.
Dave & Hubby took the smaller trailer to the shop.
I unloaded all the food from the camper and put it away. Unloaded dirty laundry from camper and started doing washing.
Dogs slept for the next 2 hours.
Tired Tater
Tired Tater and Wilson
At 6PM, Hubby went swim. I stayed home as I was exhausted and still doing Laundry. Hubby drove the truck & enclosed trailer to the Pioneer Center and left them there. He got a ride home with Ray & Scott.
I paid bills online.
Hubby got back at 8PM. He had dinner of the ribs that he had made before we left.
We watched Cougar Town and then Hubby watched an Automotive show.
I took a hot bath.
Then went to bed at 10PM.
WEDNESDAY
7-1-2020
Up at 6AM. UTV back trail to Marysvale. Got fuel at the gas station. Then found out that ALL RESTAURANTS in the area are closed on Wednesdays. We were going to get breakfast at the restaurant in Marysvale. So instead we got hashbrowns and tortillas. All of us headed back to the RV Camp and Carmen made breakfast with the eggs & shredded cheese that we had brought from home; and bacon that they had pre-cooked.
Burritos were delicious. Ray brought oatmeal to eat with us. Irl came down and brought chocolate donuts.
We clean up and get on the road for trails today. We drive back to Marysvale with us in the lead going down the road next to the river. We stop at South 40 RV Park and the guys talk to the man that owns the RV Park about where to travel today. We left at 11AM and rode 95 miles into the Piute Mountains. Saw a few lakes. Stopped at Dry Creek Road so Hubby could clean out the dust in the air cleaner. The light for "Check Engine" kept coming on. After the dust was cleaned out, Hubby said the UTV responded better.
Hubby Cleans Air Filter
Stopped at Wills Reservoir for pictures.
At The Reservoir
Stopped at Manning Meadows Lake to have lunch. Hubby did not have anything packed for me, so I ate cashews, Hubby ate a spicy hot dog.
We continued on to 10,000 feet at Barney Lake. Everybody got out to walk around the lake, but I stayed in the UTV because I had to keep my heart rate down. It was over 10,000 Feet there.
We saw lots of Deer, Hubby thought he saw an Elk. Lots of cows beside the road. Aspen trees were everywhere.
Travelled back down the trail with Scott in the lead. Saw a kid on a bike with a UTV blocking the way. Finally got around them. It was strange.
At the bottom, Hubby took the lead when I told him a shortcut on Durkeys Road to get back to Marysvale faster. We sat and waited 5 minutes for everybody to catch up.
Then we took the Highway 89 back to the camp. We had to rush because everybody wanted to eat at the Pizza place tonight and they closed at 8PM. Ray kept saying we would not have time. But we got into camp at 6:30, took showers. I biked my hair dryer up to her so she could use it.
Disgusting Showers
Reminder: To Complain Online Google - Disgusting Showers/Restrooms/Laundry Facilities. Food was AWFUL. Closed on Wednesdays. Refusal of Staff to Accommodate RVers. Just a awful place.
Hubby washed the UTV and then Dave and Scott came over to wash theirs, too. Hubby accidentally sprayed water into the camper. I had to clean it up.
We were all read to go and got in the UTVs and got to Pizza place TOMATOES Pizza Pie by 7PM. It was very crowded and we had to wait for a table. But the pizza was WONDERFUL. Huge. Great taste. Great people working there. Very friendly.
Huge Everything Pizza
All Meat Pizza
Ice Cream Afterwards
Hubby had gone to get beer at the gas station as he thought we were going to sit outside. Could not bring it inside. Had to take beer out to UTV.
While standing outside waiting, I had been bitten several times on the back of my head in my hair and down my back on the right side. Hubby ran to the Gas Station to get Benadryl for me. I took 2 and felt the effects immediately.
Ice cream for everyone paid by Hubby. We went outside to get fresh air and eat our ice cream.
We drove back to the camp.
I fell asleep on the bed and Hubby fell asleep on the sofa. Then he got into bed around 10PM. We missed the campfire tonight.
TUESDAY
6-30-2020
Up at 7:00AM. I made lattes, but the milk was watery from heating it in the microwave. We need a new microwave in the camper?
We got dressed in time and met everybody at the Restaurant again. Is breakfast going to be good? No. We got there and Kathy & Irl, Scott & Ray were already there. Waitress says "What do YOU guys want?" No greeting. Another 16 year old working at a job. It was her first day, supposedly.
Waitress had to keep going back to check on food that the kitchen had questions about. The coffee was cold and horrible tasting. Had to keep asking for warm coffee.
Raylene got my meal and was complaining about the sourdough bread she got and cold eggs. When the other order came out, it had Rye on it so I traded her breakfasts and ate her cold eggs. I was quite hungry. She had eaten one of the pieces of sourdough and gave the other to Scott. So I only had two small pieces of bread.
We took the leftovers and put them in the fridge. Dave & Carmen never joined us. They were late-still on Nevada time. PDT.
Our first trail was from the South 40 RV Park where the guys asked for directions. The girls went potty and looked at the Gift Shop.
Gas Station Next To Gift Shop
We started out at 10:06AM. Scott led the outing on the 113 Trail and by the time we got to 7000 feet, my heart had palpitations. We had forgotten to bring my Nitroglycerin pills. So Hubby pulled out in front of Scott and drove really fast down the 474 Trail. Was very tight, had lots of creek crossings, and ended at an old ghost town next to donkeys in a fenced field by the Hoover Rest Area.
Ghost Town (Abandoned RV Resort)
Hubby got me back to the camp and I took Nitro pills. Took showers and then I napped. I was awake again by the time everybody came back from the trail ride.
Sat down at the picnic table by the cabins to drink margaritas & beer.
Roasted hot dogs over campfire tonight. We saw a lone turkey walk thru the area by the cabins.
Lone Turkey
Campfire
Sat and talked until 10PM. Then we drove in the UTV back to the Camper and went to bed.
MONDAY
6-29-2020
Up at 6AM. Hubby made breakfast eggs for dogs & fed them.
I made the bed and then picked up dog poo.
I checked on credit scores after paying off everything.
I made lattes. Warmed up Egg Bites from Costco.
Met everbody down on Falcon Ridge and took pictures. Carmen walked out into the oncoming traffic lane to get pictures.
(L to R) Ray & Scott, Irl & Kathy, Dave & Carmen, Hubby & Me
Then we drove thru the canyon and stopped in St George to drop off dogs. Had to submit new paperwork for them. I was doing the paperwork while Hubby unloaded dogs. Wilson wiggled out of his arms and took off. Out into 4 lanes of traffic. Hubby brought Tater in to the office and threw his leash at me, telling me that Wilson had run away.
DogTown Doggy Daycare
I finished the paperwork. Hubby had gone out to collect the squished, dead body. But Wilson had RUN BACK ACROSS 4 LANES OF TRAFFIC and came back to the office! OMG. Hubby nabbed him as he was peeing on a bush. Then we dropped them off and left.
Had to go across the street to MACU to pick up $ for the trip. I walked up to the ATM while Hubby parked in a side parking lot with the truck & trailer.
We got back on I-15 and drove to just outside Cedar City to the Kanarraville rest area and joined everybody there. Then we started driving again.
Irl and Kathy had stopped in Cedar City to get gas. We picked them up on the Interstate and continued on. Got to BIG ROCK CANDY MOUNTAIN RESORT at 2PM (MDT).
As we were trying to find the place to check in; a sheriff's car went south going very fast. Then about 5 minutes later, a van with 2 front shredded tires driving on wheels came flying past on the road going about 60 mph. There were 6 police cars behind the van at a high rate of speed! All of us just watched gaping mouths, none of us got pictures or video! It was fast.
Car Chase from Hatch, UT to Elsinore, UT
We checked in. Hubby did not really like the spot that he was #19 in as it was not the requested 40' space he needed. So he went to ask to move next to Dave in #20 but the teenage girls that were running the front desk said that "somebody had already booked it and would be there tomorrow".
I bought a sweatshirt right away as it was going to be cold tonight.
BRCM Sweatshirt
So Hubby had to unhook the trailer and put it over to the side of the campground.
Camp
We unloaded all the UTVs. Scott & Dave's were in the enclosed trailer. Dave had our UTV on the back of our trailer that he had pulled.
As we get everything unloaded, we discover that the toilet is leaking from the floor. Hubby has to borrow tools from everybody to fix it. What a waste of time
There is NO WIFI even though when we reserved, we were assured that internet is available. They lied. It IS available at the office. No where else.
So all of us are bored to tears without phones. No cell service to call/text/email/surf internet. Gag.
I napped after unloading. Hubby and Scott drive around on the UTVs to check everything out.
The cabins are OLD. About 100 years old. Ray brought all her own stuff, sheets, blankets, towels. She wiped everything down in the cabin with Clorox Wipes. She said the place had not been vacuumed. I should have lent her our vacuum.
Irl & Kathy's Cabin (L), Scott & Ray's Cabin (R)
We were all starving, so walked over to the Restaurant and ordered food. Most of the things on the menu were out because "they had such a busy weekend". I ordered grilled meatloaf. It was ok. Not great. Most peoples food were pretty bad. Hubby had stringy, tough steak and shrimp. The shrimp looked awful. I shared some of my meatloaf with him.
Beautiful night, so we have a campfire. Roasted S'mores with square marshmallows that Kathy had
brought. Her dog, Molly, slept by the fire in a little doggy bed. It was REALLY cold tonight. Only 46 degrees.
Went to bed at 10PM.
