Grrrrr

Took the hubby into the foot surgeon today to verify that his toe was healing. The doctor removed the stitches. I chose to wait in the front room instead of listening to the big baby scream in pain.

The stitches were removed and Greg is off until April 13 to heal. He still has to return to the doctor in a few weeks to determine if the pin should come out or not.

While we were in town, we picked up a headphone & plug for the stereo, so hubby can listen to the TV quietly instead of distrubing me; he has a tendency to watch the automotive shows, Overhaulin', Horsepower TV, PINKS, Drag Racing, Dream Car Garage, Chop Cut Rebuild, Xtreme 4X4, Cool Tools, Trucks, My Classic Car, MuscleCar, American HotRod; and they all have hosts who are very irritating or have voices that I just can't stand. So with headphones, he can watch his pre-recorded shows to his heart's content!

And driving along, his cell phone rings; the conversation on this end...I hear the perennial "oh, I'm in town, we had to go to the doctor." and I see RED. I have asked him so many times before not to do that. He said that he is "conditioned" to answer the question...but it is just a question from his friends (or whomever he is speaking with) "What's up, how/what ya doin'" which Greg interprets as needing an answer. I think it is so unbelieveably RUDE for anybody to ask that. It is NOBODY'S business what we are doing or where we are. So I told the hubby that if he answers and tells anybody where we are or what we are doing, that I will start breaking his fingers...one at a time.

Can't we all join the civilized world. Ring, Ring - Answer - "Hello" "Hello, Greg. This is Dick. I was just calling to verify that information you gave me. Thank you. Goodbye."

Instead of..."hey man, how's things, whatcha doin'"

Greg has stayed on the phone for HOURS just because he doesn't know how to say "goodbye" then hang up. I have had to yell at him as he keeps saying, goodbye, see ya, ok, etc. and then does not hang up - just keeps listening. Ugh.

We picked up Wendy's cheeseburgers for the dog and got teased as the girl at the window recognized us! She knew the burgers were for Izzy.

And even tho I looked directly at Greg before we left, and ASKED him nicely (with a please) to take towels so that we could wash the dog, he forgot them. Alzheimers, or just too many years of tuning me out?

After we returned home, I wrapped & mailed out books that were requested from me on www.PaperBackSwap.com. This is a great site, as I get to exchange out the books that are sitting on the shelves that I never read anymore, to get new ones...I have ordered some interesting history books to send to Greg's dad Marv, as he really likes reading.

Bert, (Marv's girlfriend) send me these really chintzy (her word-not mine) heart earrings and a beautiful heart bracelet for a late Valentine's Day present. She is such a doll. I had already sent her the bag from London and a framed picture of the kids & us from the trip. Bert sent me an email to let me know she got them!

Cleanliness, Vomiting Cat, and other Oddities

Yesterday, I cleaned the house. Even tho it is not time for spring cleaning, I threw open the doors as it was quite warm...and cleaned. I vacuumed, swept, mopped & wiped everything down with antibiotic wipes. The house smelled great...until Greg & the dog got home.
Oh. well.

Today, I talked to my baby who is over in England so we could coordinate our next challenge on the ADSR 3. Then I uploaded freebies to my 4-Shared accounts.

In between all this, I was hit with horrible endometriosis pains. Greg has been much more sympathetic to me lately since he heard me screaming in agony last month when I had them in the middle of the night (well, more like 2am, but it was still dark!) So today, I felt the pains coming on and tore off into the bathroom to down a handful of aspirin and soak in a hot tub. But the cat had vomited all over the floor. Had to clean that up, then jump into the tub to relieve my pain. In the middle of sitting down in the tub, the phone rings. I was determined that I would not answer, would have to call them back.

Later, when I was feeling better, I made Snickerdoodle cookies for Isabelle. Even saved some of the cookie dough for her.

Gonna Kill That Darn Cat

So, Augustus obviously decided that he hated us for taking him to the doctor - and he peed & pooped twice ON OUR BED!

I have now washed all our bedding 3 times to get the cat urine smell out of it. Ugh. It is so bad. Therefore, we confined the little rat to the bathroom until we can get ahold of cleaning everything. We don't want him to make another attempt.

Too bad spring isn't here a little early because I would have booted him outside again. But it decided to snow a little again last night. I despair that spring or summer will ever come. We are locked in a nuclear winter.

Yesterday saw the start of the Amazing Digi Scrappin' Race over at http://www.ndisb.com/. So I stayed up until 1AM to get my LO posted. Today I am trying to post notes on each LO over at the site.

Our race blog, Naughty RedHead Knockouts is http://naughtyredheadknockouts.blogspot.com/ so you can go see our LOs there. I am racing with my daughter, Kelsey.

I am making 15 Bean Soup for Greg. Ham & beans & onions & garlic. Yummy. Also made a whole bunch of chicken tenders.

Please note that my DSL is working, and I am uploading my freebies again. I will endeavour to take time to make more new freebies. See the column at the right for my freebie downloads!

Mean Itty-Kat

Well, Augustus (the cat) is back to his evil, mean self. Tearing & ripping around the house, he a is a terrific terror. Obviously relieving him of his manhood & front claws has done nothing to deter him from menancing our home. I will have to check into kitty-lobotomy!

Friday was spent with Isabelle who slept almost all day. I believe she was upset because Greg wouldn't take her with him when he went to do some automotive related errands - picking up parts that had been ordered. I was busy doing laundry, cleaning house, & making muffins from scratch.

Another guy is coming on Saturday to purchase Kurt's Mustang that we have been storing. The guys are really excited about this.

The NDISB Amazing Race starts on Monday. Be prepared.

There was a chat the other night that I was unable to attend. Boohoo.

Weather has been in the mid 40s, so we really are not using the heat much during the day & on Friday the sun was shining. I really miss being able to open the doors to the house. Hope spring comes soon!

Oh-Almost forgot. Go see these beautiful bracelets. I think I will want one of these for mother's day. http://www.vintagefaerie.com/handstamped_bracelets.htm

Where Does The Time Go?

I thought I was keeping more up-to-date on my blog; but when I look, almost 4 days have passed!

Monday, we went to the doctor for me bright & early in the morning. We got gas at Costco (which was way more costly because of their state gas taxes!) then picked up Wendy's for Isabelle. We stopped quickly at Wal-Mart for some groceries, then came home. Greg propped his foot up and I waited on him with lunch, dinner & snacks. He is still putting ice packs on it to keep the swelling down.

Tuesday, we again rose with the sunrise as we had to see Greg's foot doctor for his check-up post-op. Before we went there, we stopped at the Great Harvest Bread Company to pick up some natural fresh bread - - Cinnamon Chip Apple Fruit Swirl. Yummy. We also got samples of my favorite - Pumpkin Yumkin. Usually we don't get bread from there and it is quite a treat. We don't eat enough bread to make it worthwhile.

The doctor said Greg is healing nicely. In another week, the bandages will come off & stitches will come out. Then at the end of 6 weeks, they might be able to take the pin out if it has healed correctly. If not, the pin will stay in permanently.

We did a few errands after the dr. visit then came home so Greg could rest again.

On Wednesday, Kelsey called and we had a nice chat with her. I had unplugged the digital phones so that Greg could take a nap yesterday and had forgotten to plug them back into the power - therefore, they lost their charges. We had to plug in the "old-fashioned" phone so that we could converse with our daughter.

Greg ran into town with Joe which should have only taken an hour, but ended up taking the whole afternoon. He had obviously over-done it by the time he finally came home. We watched some Corner Gas taped episodes and he rested again all night. I also had a chance to clean up my computer somewhat since it came back from repair. Now we have to take in the laptop.

We stepped out onto the deck (brrrr.....) to get a better look at the lunar eclipse at about 9pm.

Thursday finds me cooking up lots of bacon, making sausage biscuit gravy, & sun-dried tomatoes, garlic, & sausages. Might have spaghetti tonight. Greg got lattes in town and mailed my boxes, then he said he was going to go down to the shop to see what was going on...just can't keep a good man down!

Whoopie!

Another thrilling (boring) day of taking care of the hubby. We watched TV together for a while, then he watched his auto shows while I read.

He's still on pain medication and won't return to the doctor until Tuesday.

Isabelle's leg has been bothering her and she has been limping around. We gave her some pain medication so she could rest. The cat's surger is on Tuesday morning. Seems like everybody around is having some problems!

Valentine's Day & Nursing

Greg came thru surgery OK on Wednesday. We had to be there at 7AM so that he could get checked in; I waited for about 1 hour and then they called me back to recovery. He was already sitting up with his foot in a huge bandage.

The doctor had re-broken the toe next to the big toe of his left foot, put a surgical steel pin in it to straighten; and shaved off the excess cartilage at the top of the knuckle on the toe.

The nurse gave us all the exit instructions; then assisted us out to the truck. I drove by Walgreens on the way home to pick up his pain medication. When we got home, he staggered into the house and sat on the couch for the rest of the day with his foot elevated. Soon he was snoozing in a drug-induced sleep while I made sure that he had ice packs on his foot.

His great come back all day was that I waited on him...hand & FOOT!

I got him a cute card, a DVD of the 1st season of Corner Gas, and a Corner Gas mechanic shirt.

He had already gotten me a box of chocolates & a card. Greg said that he would take me out to buy me a gift after his foot heals.

Toenails are Blue

My toenails are blue. Got them done today along with my finger nails. Also picked up the computer. Took about 1 1/2 hours to get the new printer/fax/scanner/copier hooked up as it is WIRELESS. So much easier. Now, I can print from the laptop where-ever in the house & surrounding area outside.

Baby's birthday is Valentine's day. I sent her a couple special things. Hope she has a great day.

Snow is melting here. Lots of mini-lakes.

Did you know that the National Guard was called in to shovel off the snow loads from several of the schools in the area? Bonner County dismissed school so it could be shoveled off, while Kootenai County left the kids in the schools while they were being shoveled off. So very dangerous. Dummies.

Up-Date

Isabelle did really well at the Vet on Friday, but she was quite dopey when we picked her up. Poor little puppy was starving when she got home as we were unable to feed her since 8PM on Thursday night. So she got quite a meal and spent a very long time outside going potty. This dog holds it until she can get outside.

She panicked when she was sleeping and it really scared me. I couldn't get her to wake up - even resorted to trying to open her eyes. She was listless, drugged-so I got her water and forced it down her which seemed to help a little. The doctor said that she would be OK.

Augustus is actually a boy - the cat is SO hairy that we couldn't figure it out until the vet checked. Aug got his shots & we also found out that he had ear mites so we got medicine for that. Surgery for el gato is scheduled for next week. His tail will be clipped, removing his front claws, and neuterization will be done. Maybe that will calm down "the terror"!

Sat morning, Greg took me out to breakfast at the (formerly Greg Goose) Country Boy Cafe in town. I had been craving an omelette. This place does a fabulous omelette; along with Texas toast (homemade bread), & homefries. Yum. Greg got his usual-biscuits & gravy, egg overeasy, & homefries -except he added peppers & onions! We brought home the left-overs as this place really overfeeds the customers. Got enough left for lunch and dinner.

Saturday afternoon found me posting books on www.PaperBackSwap.com so that I can get rid of my spare paperbacks; and packaging up all the books that have been requested from me. Greg got the rest of the deck cleaned off. The temperature climbed up to the mid 40s and you can really see the snow load has gone down significantly. He then worked down at the shop for a while.

Isabelle slept all day Saturday, still recovering.

Sunday we hung around home; watched a bit of TV. About 11:30PM we had a car that turned into the driveway and just sat down there. Greg drove the truck to find out who was trespassing at this time of night. He got stuck on the ice at the driveway entrance. The suspicious car drove away as soon as they saw Greg drive down there...

I cleaned house on Monday, talked to KRL on the phone, Greg worked in the shop-Joe came over with the end-loader to move snow; Our bottom driveway was totally covered in a 12-foot high snowbank and the propane truck could not get in to fill our tank. Isabelle went nuts barking when she heard the heavy equipment noise.

Friday, February 08, 2008

I left off on Monday. Sorry. It's difficult to blog on my laptop. I enjoy using my programs that are on the desktop. No word yet on the desktop, so it must have blown up pretty bad.

Greg is off officially from Tuesday. He can't walk on his toe anymore. Surgery is scheduled for next early Wednesday. Under a general anesthesia, the doctor will carve off the calcium deposit on the top of his toe, re-break the toe, then put a steel pin in it to straighten it; then he might put a pin in the heel to align it all. Greg will be off work for the next 6 weeks.

Wednesday, I went to get my hair done in Spoky-Jo while Greg & Isabelle did errands. Quincy (my hairstylist) put a few highlights & lighter color in it since I tend to get very dark in the winter; my hair lightens up in the summer as I spend a lot of time out doors.

Thursday we ran more errands; Greg had an emergency call-out first thing in the morning, then we went into town for his blood test & EKG test for surgery. Greg also had a very late call-out Thursday night up in Hope, Idaho. Long drive; he didn't get home until well past 9PM.

We took the dog into the vet today for a teeth cleaning & toenail clip; they will sedate her and do the cleaning under surgery. Picking her up at 3:30, we will take Augustus in and find out what he is...male/female? then get his shots; and have the doctor look at his tail. Depending upon what he is, we will also discuss surgery to spay/neuter.

Still mailing books out for http://www.paperbackswap.com/; and waiting for the ADSR Race to begin at http://www.ndisb.com/

I also found a great site to adopt a military troop member to support; See www.anysoldier.com

Tootles.

paperbackswap.com

Check out http://www.paperbackswap.com/. Tell them hluebner sent you!

This is a great site to list books you don't want anymore, then exchange them with people who have books that you want. You get credit for your list; plus credits when you mail out books to other people. You can also purchase credits. So far, 16 people have requested books I listed. This is great. Almost like getting books for free!

Had to take my desktop computer in for refreshment. So am working on the laptop only.

Also we will buy a new printer as the old one bombed just before we left on vacation.

We went to Spoky-Jo yesterday (I was going to get my hair done, but the stylist forgot they had people coming over for Superbowl Sunday!) so we got some things at Costco, and gifts for Valentine's Day.

My baby was born on Valentine's Day.

So I rescheduled my hair appt for Wednesday.

Greg has to visit the doctor today for analysis of his hammer-toe injury. He has finally decided to have surgery on it.

The sun was shining yesterday and is out again today. We have another storm front moving in Tuesday night the weather channel predicted which is supposed to dump another foot on us.
