SATURDAY / MAY 23 / DOG WALK / DOG WALK / CAMPING IN GREAT BASIN NATIONAL PARK

SATURDAY
MAY 23 2026
MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND

Woke up early at 5AM and dressed. Made the bed.

In the kitchen, I made hot latte for Hubby and hot tea for me.

Got harnesses on dogs and loaded them into the FMF. Drove to Bunkerville to walk in the soccer field.

RILEY & PBJR IN THE CAR ON THE WAY TO BUNKERVILLE PARK

We walked them around the park and gave them water afterwards. Riley got some really good bird runs. Barking. We loaded the dogs into the car and drove home.

At home, we made last minute stuff loaded in the truck/camper and then put the dogs in the truck. They were all excited to get going.

In St George, we stopped at Jalapeno's to pick up some burritos as I reviewed online that they were the best in town. They Were Not Lying. OMG. Those burritos are SO good. Hubby went inside to get them while we were parked next to the restaurant in the street. I made him go inside and buy more for tomorrow morning's breakfast.

DOGS IN TRUCK READY FOR DOG-VENTURE!

We drove towards Cedar City on I-15; stopped in Kanarraville to walk the dogs in the park there. Gave them lots of water. Hubby and I used the potty in the camper.

We loaded them again and continued to Cedar City. Picked up fuel at Smith's; Hubby went inside and got hot dog buns, chocolate for s'mores.

Stopped at C.A.L. Ranch where Hubby went inside to pick up a bag of dog food and some peppermints.

Stopped at Beans & Brews where Hubby got 32 ounce HUGE iced lattes. They were too big and tasted awful.

We walked the dogs in a soccer park near there and a weird, homeless dude walked past on the sidewalk, did not acknowledge us, and was smoking a cigar. It smelled awful.

DOGS AT PARK IN KANARRAVILLE, UTAH
JUST SOUTH OF CEDAR CITY

We loaded the dogs after giving them water and drove thru town. Out on Highway 130 North. Thru the little towns of Minersville, Milford, Frisco, Garrison, and then Baker.

A lot of long, deserted highway where we saw no cars at all. It spritzed a little bit of rain and had dark rain clouds.
LONG DESERTED EMPTY HIGHWAY 21

TURN ON THE HIGHWAY FOR THE NATIONAL PARK FROM BAKER

WILD TURKEY IN FRISCO, UTAH

We drove north on Hwy 21 and drove up to the National Park, but it was not very well situated for camping. LOTS of scrub brush. Nowhere to open camp.

Lots of people in the Park. We drove out and back south.

Found a deserted road White Pine County Road that as supposed to have Dispersed camping, but again, too close to camp and lots of brush. Nowhere for dogs to play/run.

We turned around on the narrow road and then drove back to the desert area and found a sheep shearing station that had been abandoned. We turned in there and camped. Lots of desert area for dogs to run around & play.

Very deserted. There was broken old glass in areas, old rusted tin cans, lots of wire, old sheep wool that was gross. No animals, no snake, no scorpions.

CAMPING AT DESERTED SHEEP SHEARING STATION

We walked the dogs several times. Set up camp chairs and just hung out. There was internet there! I was surprised. We watched the sun set and the dark clouds over the horizon. The clouds behind us cast a shadow on the mountains in front of us. It was very unusual.

MOON IN SKY AFTER DARK

We finally went inside at 8:30PM. It was getting dark, but there were so many clouds in the sky, we could not see stars.

We played several rounds of UNO. PBJR and Tater were in bed. Tater was covered up UNDER the comforters. PBJR was on top of the comforters. Riley slept on the floor by the bed until we got into bed, then she hopped up and got into the bed.

Tater slept in the window by Hubby all night. He was covered up and HOT. PBJR slept by my leg and Riley slept by my feet.

We opened the window to get some fresh air. It was nice sleeping.
