SATURDAY / OCT 5 / CAMPING AT KANAB

SATURDAY
OCTOBER 5 2025

Restless night. I was up at 5AM and went potty in the front bathroom.

Slept on the sofa.

Hubby got up with dogs at 6AM. He let them out for potty. I got up after that.

I hurt everywhere.

Then I got dressed and helped Hubby make the bed.

He had made egg breakfast for the dogs and fed them. Gave tuna & shredded cheese for cats.

We started packing the camper with food in the fridge and our go-bags.

Finally loaded the dogs at 9AM.

We stopped at Maverik to get fuel and I went inside to get burritos and a croissant sandwich for the dogs.

Fed the dogs a little. Then we drove to St George thru the gorge.

Missed the southern parkway, so had to drive thru Hurricane and Hubby stopped at Beans & Brews to get frozen lattes. He walked inside. I sat with dogs.

My window broke as we left the parking lot, so had to leave the window down. Nice that it is pleasant weather and not too hot or cold.

We drove to Hurricane and stopped at Arby's to get burgers. We stopped in the park and dogs at their roast beef burgers. I walked dogs while Hubby fixed the window and put angle wood in the door to hold up the window. The dogs and I watched people playing tennis on the courts.

Then we started driving again. Out of Hurricane on State Hwy 59 thru Colorado City and east to Fredonia where we turned north.

Arrived in Kanab about 3PM.

PBJR HANGING OUT BACK WINDOW WHILE DRIVING THRU KANAB

In Kanab, Hubby got fuel at Maverik. We stopped at the Brown Box Cafe where Hubby went inside to get cinnamon rolls and cookies. I waited in the truck with the dogs.

Then we headed out on State Hwy 89 to find Seaman Wash Road BLM Road to find a place to camp. We initially drove past it and had to turn around.

It was a pretty nice road, solid and tight. But when we parked, there were sticky bushes everywhere and Tater got a sticker in his foot and nose. Riley was running around like wild. PBJR just walked around with me. Hubby was unloaded stuff and we decided not to stay. Too dusty. Too many stickers. Can't make a fire.

Riley found some old bones and chewed on them for a while. Yuck.

We packed up again and left.

Drove to Hancock Road and turned West to Ponderosa Grove Campground. Since it is Federal BLM park, we did not have to pay because THE GOVERNMENT IS SHUT DOWN!

We set up camp in #11, same as we stayed in last time.

Hubby made a fire in the fire-pit. We roasted beer brats. One of them fell into the fire - that was the dogs' weiner!

HUBBY STARTING FIRE

I had to have a Nitro PILL. Was having chest pains.

We munched on brats, had drinks. Dogs got some brats. It started getting dark.

WE HEARD COYOTES HOWLING. PBJR went on-point. Tater turned and bristled. Riley was scared and hid behind us.

MOON OVER CAMP

I got tired. We went to bed at 8PM. I could not stay awake. Hubby wanted to play cards, but I was exhausted.

I could not find my jammie pants and had to tear apart the closet. Then we all loaded into bed. Tater refused to move, as usual. Riley slept in the corner at the bottom of the bed by my feet. PBJR slept between Hubby and me at the top. She & Tater slept under the comforters. It was nice and warm. We opened the vents in the bathroom and above the bed.
